South Loop Elementary School is a public neighborhood school centrally located in beautiful Dearborn Park, in the heart of the South Loop. The School offers several programs: the Neighborhood Fine Arts Program, a Regional Gifted Center, Extended Day School Program, and a tuition-based Pre-School to students coming from a wide range of ethnic and social-economic backgrounds. Our goal is to provide an excellent public education for children of all levels and abilities. The school is in the process of implementing significant school improvement initiatives to enhance the quality of our core academic programs. We are creating a learning environment where expectations are high, diversity fosters respect and appreciation, and each child becomes well prepared to succeed as a lifelong learner who will reach his or her full potential.

Extended Day School Program
The After School Program offers affordable after school care that supports your child's academic, artistic, physical, and social development in a safe, fun and rewarding setting. The program runs weekdays from 2:45 until 6:00 pm. Each 10-week quarter, children choose from varied offerings in arts, technology, language and sports that are connected to their regular school day.
Friends and Family of South Loop School, Inc. is a non-profit 501c3 organization established to enhance the educational experience of students at South Loop Elementary School. The primary mission is to provide funds for resources not available through the normal school budget but required to operate a successful school. In the past Friends and Family of South Loop School, Inc. has enriched the learning environment at South Loop School by paying for additional classroom resources such as teacher assistants to help increase staff to student ratio, a new science laboratory and new mobile lap top computers.
Funds like yours have helped South Loop School raise its test scores from the 32nd percentile to the 85th percentile.
